OUR POSITION

Tomintoul is situated in the north east of the Cairngorm National Park, on the Glenlivet Estate, which is part of the Crown Estates.

The Richmond Arms is sited on the south of the main Village square, and is easily spotted travelling through, due to its commanding position.

The A939 Passes through the village, and is our main life line from Grantown-on-Spey to the North West to Ballater in the South East. The road winds its way through some of the most beautiful scenery that the Cairngorms has to offer, climbing to a height of 2090ft at The Lecht, just 6 miles south of Tomintoul. This is the second highest paved road in the UK, with only the Spittal of Glen Shee being higher, near Braemar.

The Lecht offers dramatic views and steep hills all year round, with the Ski centre at the summit, for winter sports enthusiasts, but ideal for Motorbikes when the weather is good.

The cities of Inverness, Aberdeen and Elgin are all about an hours drive away, allowing the explorer to see a greater area of this part of Scotland, with the Moray Firth coast line within reach where the explorer can see a variety of wildlife, and small fishing villages dotted along the shore.
